NURTURING THE NEXT GENERATION OF TALENT

MPR | APM has always been a bustling hotspot for young talent, new perspectives and project innovation. The campaign presents an opportunity to establish a formal, organization-wide intern and fellow program offering a holistic and robust public media experience. These students and midcareer professionals provide an invaluable pipeline for our next generation of public media talent, music lovers and nonprofit professionals.

EARLY CAMPAIGN GIFTS ALLOWED US TO:

  • Recruit a team of four interns and a senior fellow in our digital innovation area. Using human-centered design to examine and understand how millennials consume media, they used their findings to develop and test prototypes to deliver media in new ways to that audience.
  • Hire five additional diverse interns who spent their summer months with the MPR Newsroom (one working in digital journalism) and with the APM Reports investigative and documentary group.
  • Create a new position of Program Manager, Interns and Fellows.

Campaign investments are helping us develop, expand and unify a centralized internship and fellowship program that connects all areas of MPR | APM.

A LEAD GIFT FROM RUTH AND JOHN HUSS AND A GRANT FROM THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES IS HELPING ESTABLISH A COMPREHENSIVE, ORGANIZATION-WIDE PROGRAM.
